Jorge Alberto Minuto

Founder and President of PROMECIO S.A. — Textile Chemistry Specialist

Jorge's story in the textile world began at age 15, when he volunteered at the Geigy laboratory, a Swiss chemical and pharmaceutical company. It was there that he discovered his calling: textile chemistry captivated him from the very beginning, especially the art of colorimetry and working with formulas. That early experience shaped the course of his entire career. Esa experiencia temprana marcó el rumbo de toda su carrera.

His time at Geigy provided him with invaluable experience. In 1967, CORBELLA S.A. hired him because of his skill and enthusiasm. He quickly rose to become head of the laboratory and, over seven years, grew to become Technical Director, specializing in dyeing knitted fabrics and yarns. He was the first person in Argentina with that specialization.

In 1974, he joined PRODUCTEX S.A., a company with over 1,600 employees located in Munro, where he led the knitwear division, serving international companies in the sportswear sector. A year later, after being selected from among six candidates, he joined TANATEX Argentina—a joint venture between Tanatex Chemical Corporation (USA) and Anilinas Argentinas—where he spent twelve years, eventually becoming Sales Manager for Textile Auxiliaries. During this time, he represented Argentina as a panelist and speaker at International Textile Chemistry Congresses organized by the Latin American Federation of Textile Chemists (FLAQT), held in various Latin American countries.

In 1987, he founded PENTACOLOR S.R.L., which became PENTAR S.A. in 1990. Through this company, he introduced the Textile Auxiliaries business to the local market. In parallel, he maintained the representation of Tanatex Sybron Corporation until the company was acquired globally by Bayer in 2001.

That same year, together with Iván Marún, he founded PROMECIO S.R.L., which became PROMECIO S.A. in 2002. Since then, Jorge has led the company with a defining philosophy: the sale of textile auxiliaries is, above all, a service. The product is part of the solution; the real value lies in the personalized technical advice he provides to each client to solve specific problems or develop new processes.

In addition to his commercial activity, Jorge taught Textile Auxiliaries at the Argentine Association of Textile Chemists and Colorists (AAQCT) from 2001 to 2020, and held leadership positions within the institution, including serving as secretary for two consecutive terms.

With more than five decades of experience, Jorge Minuto is an undisputed leader in the Argentine textile industry. His deep knowledge of chemicals, compositions and processes makes him the professional that companies in the sector continue to call upon to solve the most complex challenges of their operations.
